SRR GPN SUSPENSION KIT (written by Max Power magazine)

When aiming to modify your car into something that can wipe the floor with all who take you on, you need to think further than engine mods. Top fuel's Group "N" suspension kit will enable you to push your Civic to new limits. The kit contains lower rear suspension arms, beautifully CNC'd from light and stiff aluminium billet; an uprated steel, rear anti-roll bar; and an adjustable rear end that, working in harmony with uprated springs and dampers, offers Touring Car-style handling. Quality of manufacture is second to none and its performance is guaranteed by Top Fuel, the nutters you saw charging round Tokyo in a 550bhp Civic on our Beasts From The East video. There'll be a full test in a future issue.

Comment: Gez's Honda Civic was transformed with our SRR rear suspension arm kit and now handles like a touring car. He is extremely impressed with the quality and the 'built' of the product.

GEZ'S HONDA CIVIC VTI - reviewed by Gez Jones - Max Power magazine One area of performance tuning I've always been interested in is suspension. Like brakes, fit a decent system and you get massive leaps in performance without having to touch your engine. I recently tested the lightweight racing coilover damper kit combined with an SRR rear-end stiffening kit (Invo - 020 7607 1677) on my Honda. I took the Civic to SWR to have the kit fitted. The mechanic set the ride height as before, with a drop of 65mm all round, so any differences would be purely down to the new products. And what a difference they made. Instead of jumping and bouncing around, it now rides extremely smoothly over rough surfaces - yet the feel is super firm. It doesn't suffer from scrub any more, even through wallows at high speed where it used to crash down with such force my whole body used to tense up. And it's now balanced to drift round corners so sweetly I feel physically linked to the car.

It has made a massive difference. In fact, I don't think I've ever driven a front-wheel drive car that has blown me away so much. The Civic no longer pushes its nose when driven too hard though a corner - both front and rear lose traction progressively, keeping the car on the desired trajectory without having to resort to a nasty throttle lift-off manoeuvre. The cost of these kits seems high, but considering the performance gained from this cutting-edge product, it really isn't that bad. And remember, you can always spread this cost over time - fit the coilovers first, then enhance their performance by adding strut braces and up rated anti-roll bars as and when you can afford it. Believe me, you'll be blown away by how much pleasure and pace you can extract from your car.
